“Working with Friday Construction was a true pleasure, from start to finish. Dale has a great attitude and plan to get projects moving forward; I have done three with him so far. What I found most impressive, maybe even more so than the superb quality of work, was the fact that projects started and ended when he said they would — no month-long delays. I would recommend Friday Construction to anyone who wants a positive experience with their construction project."

“We would definitely recommend Friday Construction, Inc. to our friends and family. We were very satisfied with the results of the work done on our house and the work was none in a manner that minimized confusion and dislocation during the work. We would have no qualms about recommending Friday Construction to others looking for a contractor to do work of the sort done for us.

We had no problems working with the subcontractors. Friday Construction brings the subcontractors into the job to participate in the generation of the cost estimates at the very beginning of the process and this helps to improve communication between the contractor, subcontractors, and the client. A result of this process is that we interacted with the subcontractors more effectively and were able to do better daily and weekly planning in order to prepare for, and live around, whatever work was being done at any given stage of the work. The fact that Friday Construction clearly works regularly with the same subcontractors also made the scheduling more efficient and improved communications.

The project moved along in a timely manner. One of the biggest problems with extended jobs that involve multiple subcontractors is that much of the duration of the overall job can be spent in ‘dead time’ between subcontractor efforts, periods during which nothing is being done. Friday Construction established a clear and efficient schedule for the work at the very beginning of the job and involved the subcontractors in the generation of the schedule. As a result, there were very few days during which there was no activity on the job. At those times when the schedule needed to be modified due to unforeseen circumstances associated with the prior condition of our house, the schedule was quickly adjusted to accommodate the necessary changes with the minimum of additional delay. Friday Construction and the subcontracts it uses deserve high marks in this area.

We initiated our house reconstruction with a specific desire to change how many of the rooms were utilized in hopes that this would allow us to make much better use of our limited space. Now that the job is done it is clear that this reorganization is going to work as we hoped. This is due in part to our having given considerable thought to what we wanted done. However, this goal was effectively realized by the work done by the contractor. In addition, the contractor and subcontractors understood our principal goal and in a number of instances our initial plans were improved by suggestions made by the contractor and subcontractors.

We also liked the payment structure used by Friday Construction. The need to make full payment for each job component at the start of the actual work resulted in our writing a large number of smaller checks but kept the payments closely tied to the actual work and the subcontractors’ efforts. Friday Construction supplied frequent invoice summaries and updated schedules so it was always clear what activities were completed, ongoing, or yet to be started.

There were, of course, a number of inconveniences associated with living in a house that is undergoing renovation. However, these inconveniences were largely of the sort typical of this type of construction and were minimized by the relatively rapid construction schedule followed by the contractor.”

“We employed Friday Construction for a remodel of our house in Palo Alto, CA.

We bought an old house in the need of many upgrades and fixes. We decided to go for an extensive remodel, that among other things involved removing of two walls, converting two closets into a den, remodeling of the kitchen and two bathrooms, insulating the house, installing new drywall, a new HVAC system, a new tankless water heater system, new windows, new interior doors, engineered hardwood floors throughout the house and repainting both interior and exterior.

As the remodel progressed we discovered both things that had to be fixed because of problems that were not visible before the project started (for instance we had to replace all plumbing due to corrosion) and we also discovered new ideas during discussions with Dale (for instance removing a small closet to make the shower in the master bathroom larger).

Our family had no experience doing any kind of remodel or construction and really valued that Dale was able to advise us on the whole job. Not only he was making sure that things fit together but he was at time helping us with design issues.

We were also very impressed that when a defect in painting was discovered by Friday Construction, Dale explained to us the defect, alerted us to our rights and successfully explained this issue to the previous owner, so that without any discussions, the former owner refunded a significant part of the added cost of removing the defect. Without Dale's help, we wouldn't even know to contact our real estate agent and work on this issue.

In general, communication with Friday Construction was very smooth thanks to Dale's personality and his skills of presenting the complexities of construction details to customers like us who do not have much experience with remodeling.

We are very happy with the comprehensiveness and quality of Dale's work. But it is also important how many of our neighbors complimented us on a good choice of the contractor for the job. The compliments were not only about the quality of the work but also about minimizing impact of the construction on the neighbors and being a nice person to have around. On the personal level, we also connected well with Dale which made the remodel process much less stressful for us.

We are very happy with the outcome of this remodel.”

“I wanted to convey to you our experiences with Dale Friday (our contractor, for two remodels), and the talent and expertise that he brings to his profession. Dale was our contractor for our (pre-designed) kitchen remodel, and for a bathroom remodel that he designed and built. Both projects were done on the same house, an above median priced house in the region of Sunnyvale near Los Altos.

During the Kitchen remodel, Dale skillfully represented for the designer, to make sure that the design would meet space and functionality requirements for the designated areas in the existing house. Dale would verify measurements, obtain all permits, sub-contract and schedule specialists, and coordinate billing, time and materials. Dale also took special care to make sure that the build site was inaccessible to two toddlers and two pet cats, by building a barrier wall that separated the construction site from the rest of the house.

On both projects, Dale displayed excellent communication skills. Dale always clearly described the situation where choices needed to be made, and the available options. As all projects go, unforeseen construction issues arose, and Dale always suggested the right option that made sense for us. Our kids looked forward to seeing Dale each morning, and Dale looked forwards to seeing which costumes they would dress in for him that day.

For the bathroom project, Dale upped his offerings by creating the design that met our needs and constraints in the available space. Dale carefully took measurements, reflected building codes, and produced a design that was functionally and ergonomically correct, as well as visually charming.

On all projects, Dale worked with upper-class construction materials (granite, sandstone, cherry cabinets), and well respected utilities. Dale has exhibited fine craftsmanship with emphasis on the small details.

Dale also was flexible in working with us on where we had additional work or modifications to our original plans and estimates. Dale was able to clearly describe impact to schedule and cost, and was flexible enough to accomplish our modifications.

I have mostly conveyed my experiences with Dale’s professionalism and skill, however it is important to detail the personal side as well. Dale has been a joy to work with.  He understood the complexities of our situation (two career family with two active young children), and adjusted his schedule around our availability.  Dale also took the time to let us know him and his impressive talents outside of business. It was easy to befriend Dale because of his amiability, and that added much to our business relationship as well.

Dale, truly became our friend as well as our advocate. Now, after the completion of our projects, I look forward to continuing our relationship with Dale."
